Donnie Joseph is one of the most renowned alumni from Hays County. He is a Major League Baseball pitcher who has played for multiple teams throughout his career.
Dillon Passage is another well-known alumnus from Hays County. He is best known for being the recent husband of Joe Exotic, the star of the hit Netflix show Tiger King. James Rossi is also an alumnus from Hays County and is currently playing for the Navy football team. Bob Shelton Stadium serves as the main competition stadium for the Hays CISD varsity team.
It is named after the district's legendary soccer coach, Bob Shelton, who was the district's soccer coach for 47 years. The stadium can accommodate 8,600 people and has an artificial grass field. The track has seven lanes and includes jumping pits, a high jump area, and a pole vaulting area. The facility also has press booths both on the house and on the visitors' side, with radio and television booths. At the time of his retirement, Bob Shelton was the oldest American football coach at the same school in Texas.
