Austin Westlake is a force to be reckoned with in Texas football. The Dogies have been a part of UIL State Championship Games since 1925 and have consistently been one of the top teams in their division, winning the most championships in Hays County. The San Antonio metro area has seen great success in recent years with four teams making it to the UIL State Championship Games this season. Boerne, Wimberley, Cuero and Poth have all had impressive seasons and are looking forward to competing for a state title.
Unfortunately, one of the most popular swimming pools in Texas will be closed “for the near future” due to low water levels and spring flow, according to Hays County Parks officials. A Wimberley man was arrested and charged with three counts of arson for felony 2 after setting fire to three vehicles. When officers transferred him to the Hays County jail, they obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and discovered more than 70 forms of identification, including W-2 cards, driver's licenses, social security cards and passports, that belonged to numerous different victims. The Red Raiders football team is a member of the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-A).
